Please introduce yourself - Tell us who you are, what you do and where you’re from.

My name is DJ Loypur, I'm 27. Born and raised in Melbourne, Australia. I am a professional golfer on the Australian PGA Tour.

On average, how long do you spend outside a day when playing golf?
An average day of golf will be anywhere from 4 to 6 hours spent outside.

Experiencing five or more sunburns before 21 years of age can increase the risk of melanoma by 80%. What was your attitude towards sun protection when growing up and how has that changed?

Although sun protection was always pushed on me by my parents, as a kid you still don't fully appreciate its importance. That has changed now mostly due to the amount of research and constant information that you come across through TV and media, not to mention how often it seems people around you are having to get cancer's cut off them, mild or other wise...there are now constant reminders to stay on top of your sun protection which I didn't have as much when I was younger.

What would you tell your 16-year-old self about sun protection?

I would just say to be as diligent as possible, make a habit of being sun smart and remember to maintain that even on days that aren’t necessarily hot or sunny.

Golfers are at an increased risk of skin cancer and melanoma due to cumulative UV exposure. In your experience, is sun protection a priority in the golfing community? Why/why not?

There is definitely a lot more awareness now in the community thanks for various charity organisations involvement along with the Australian PGA. You also see a larger percentage of golfers now wearing sun protection sleeves which was not common in previous years.

Do you incorporate sun protection into your daily routine? If so, how?

Yes sunscreen is the one I make sure I use every day and also given I am out for a long period I make sure to reapply throughout the day.

What are your favourite Solbari products to wear when playing golf? Why are they your favourites?

I love all the Solbari products they make fantastic golf clothes. I especially love the polos both long and short sleeve. The long sleeve is great because it's such a light material you don't over heat and get the added sun protection.

What are your best sun protection tips?

To stay diligent, reapply your sunscreen during your round, and don't take the cooler days off sun protection.

What do you love about Solbari?

I love their passion for sun protection, as well as the impressive quality of their products, I think its as good as you will find anywhere, and although it wasn't the main focus Solbari have created a fantastic range of golf attire that looks good and feels good.
