Hi, my name is Alanna.
Curious, caring and animal loving.
I have sensitive skin so I am extremely careful when it comes to sun exposure. I love being outside but I burn easily in the harsh New Zealand sunlight. Solbari clothing offers me convenient sun protection without having to slather sunscreen absolutely everywhere! I also find Solbari very useful for protecting tattoos whilst they're healing.
Thankfully I grew up knowing the importance of sun protection and have always worn sunscreen. My mum has sun damage from routine sun exposure throughout her life so I learned that lesson early and always made sure to protect my skin. If anything I would say thank you to my 16 year old self for being smart about sun protection!
Thank you Alanna for helping raise awareness for skin cancer, melanoma and skin conditions, and sharing your story with us and our Solbari Community.

Many of us see the ultraviolet (UV) index on weather reports and read about UV alerts at particular times of the day. But do you know what it actually means and how it affects you?
It is very difficult to the untrained eye to identify melanomas and skin cancers because they can come in many different shapes and sizes.
As Associate Professor Rosemary Nixon from the Skin & Cancer Foundation Inc. says, "the earlier a skin cancer is identified and treated, the better the chance of avoiding surgery, or in the case of a serious melanoma or skin cancer, potential disfigurement or even death."
